Washington Square South
White squares go amber
black squares go brown.
The sun in the Fall
only crosses the park
in golden diagonals.
And, that’s fine,
at least with me.
I’ll swap knights
with my niece all day.
Who wouldn’t settle
for a draw,
in this light,
in this weather?
My niece.
Such a warm-hearted
Bobby Fischer.
