On Laziness

My favorite story
is called “This Indolence

of Mine.” I’ve
never read it.

It’s by a writer
whose name

I don’t remember, but
who could have easily

been famous
had he tried harder.

I’m not here to judge
though, I’m here to turn

this indolence of mine
into this indolence

of ours. Is the GDP
really our

responsibility?
You think they’ll miss thee

down at The Drudgery?
No, the sun will surely

forgive us if we shine
brightly, but refuse

to rise. Consider this
and consider

the other, deadlier sins
we could add

to our summer list.
