Buster Keaton’s Eyes

The facade falls
but, there he stands

surrounded by window.
The ladder splits

and Buster plummets
to a mattress

seemingly unscathed
by his own miracle.

How do you explain
his eyes, though?

Even in black and white
you can tell

that’s where
the damage lies.

There is more sadness
pooled there

than anywhere, I think.
