The Boy King

He definitely had it
working that night

you know, you know
how some people just glow

when they’re rendered
completely in gold,

even after they’ve
been dead for 3000 years?

I was just there
to hold the lights,

she was the one
that put the lens flare halo

around the Pharaoh.
The museum was empty.

We had him all
to ourselves,

a private audience
with the king.

I told him, no,
nothing much had changed.

A few pyramids, maybe
The Nile was still flooding…

I didn’t know then
what he meant, but

he told me,
you can smell gold

when it’s glittering
and you can see Egypt

in everything.
